About this game

Yie Ar Kung-Fu is a landmark vintage fighting game developed by Konami. It first released for arcades in 1984 and ported to Famicom/NES in 1985. The protagonist Oolong (renamed Lee on FC), inspired by Bruce Lee, aims to defeat all martial arts masters to become Grand Master and fulfill his late father’s wish. Players control the hero to throw punches, kicks and jumping attacks against 11 unique challengers wielding nunchucks, fans, staves and shuriken. Each enemy has distinct combat patterns. Combine joystick and buttons for high / low strikes; aerial attacks are a signature feature. After beating all foes, a harder second loop unlocks. It supports two-player alternate turns, uses simple health bars and iconic catchy soundtrack. Later ported to MSX, Commodore 64 and many home computers. It is a legendary NES title for Chinese players and laid important foundations for one-on-one fighting games.

Controls

These are the default keys. Every arcade board has a different number of buttons and means different things by them. The rows above are buttons 1–6 on the board: on Neo Geo boards (The King of Fighters and friends) A/B/C/D are buttons 1–4, Metal Slug uses only 1, 2 and 4 (shoot / jump / grenade), and Pac-Man uses none at all. Six-button fighters with three punches and three kicks (Street Fighter II and the like) get a different layout from the core: light punch U, medium punch I, heavy punch Q, light kick J, medium kick K, heavy kick E. Click the gamepad icon 🎮 in the player toolbar, then “Remap keys” to open the emulator’s own control settings (keyboard and gamepad, saved automatically). Gamepads are detected automatically. On phones you get on-screen buttons.
