X-Men - children of the atom
About this game
X-Men: Children of the Atom is a classic 2D arcade fighting game released by Capcom in 1994 on CPS-2 hardware. It is Capcom’s first fighting game licensed with Marvel and laid the foundation for the later Marvel vs Capcom franchise. The story is adapted from the Fatal Attractions comic arc. Magneto plans to launch an electromagnetic pulse to reshape the world, triggering battles between the X-Men and mutant villains. Playable roster includes Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Psylocke, Iceman and other X-Men heroes, alongside villains like Omega Red, Silver Samurai and Sentinel. The game innovated with super jumps, air combos and X-Power gauge. Fill the gauge to unleash spectacular hyper X moves, faithfully representing mutant powers from comics. It uses 6-button controls and best-of-three matches, with gorgeous pixel animations and original cartoon voice acting. Later ported to Sega Saturn, PlayStation and PC, it is a landmark superhero fighting title of the 90s.

Controls
These are the default keys. Every arcade board has a different number of buttons and means different things by them. The rows above are buttons 1–6 on the board: on Neo Geo boards (The King of Fighters and friends) A/B/C/D are buttons 1–4, Metal Slug uses only 1, 2 and 4 (shoot / jump / grenade), and Pac-Man uses none at all. Six-button fighters with three punches and three kicks (Street Fighter II and the like) get a different layout from the core: light punch U, medium punch I, heavy punch Q, light kick J, medium kick K, heavy kick E. Click the gamepad icon 🎮 in the player toolbar, then “Remap keys” to open the emulator’s own control settings (keyboard and gamepad, saved automatically). Gamepads are detected automatically. On phones you get on-screen buttons.
