Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal

Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal is the official expansion pack for Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, co-developed by Blizzard Entertainment and Cyberlore Studios, released in 1996 for DOS, Windows and Mac. It requires the base game to play. The story takes place after the end of the Second War. The Alliance destroyed the Dark Portal, yet the dimensional rift remained open. Orc shaman Ner'zhul gathers the remaining Horde clans on Draenor, the orc homeworld. He sends raiding parties back to Azeroth to seize powerful ancient artifacts, intending to open countless portals and conquer other worlds. The Alliance forms the Sons of Lothar expedition led by Khadgar and Turalyon, crossing the rift to invade Draenor. Eventually Ner'zhul’s portal magic rips the planet apart, turning Draenor into Outland, stranding the expedition on the shattered world. The expansion retains the core RTS gameplay: gold and lumber resource gathering, base building, combined land, naval and air warfare. It adds two full campaign lines with 12 missions for Alliance and Horde respectively, introducing 10 legendary heroes (5 per side), including Khadgar, Turalyon, Alleria, Grommash Hellscream and Teron Gorefiend, with powerful stats and unique capabilities. It features brand-new Draenor wasteland tileset, extra skirmish maps, improved AI and map editor, supporting up to 8 players over LAN. This expansion greatly expands the Warcraft lore and lays the foundation for the Outland storyline in World of Warcraft.

These games get the keyboard directly — the controls are whatever the game itself defines, usually in its own help or options screen. Gamepads are detected automatically. On phones you get on-screen buttons.
