About this game

Submachine 1: the Basement, known in China as High-End Machine 1: Basement, is a point-and-click escape puzzle Flash game created by Polish indie developer Mateusz Skutnik and released in 2005. It is the first title of the famous Submachine series. Players wake trapped inside a mysterious interconnected underground basement maze. Use mouse clicks to move between rooms, inspect scenery, collect items and solve machinery puzzles. The main objective is to gather four ancient ceramic tiles and insert them into the portal device to escape. It uses minimalist hand-drawn art and eerie ambient sound. The original release only contains nine rooms; later extended revisions added more content. The original Flash SWF can be played via Ruffle emulator, the foundational classic that started the iconic Submachine puzzle universe.
