Metal Max
About this game
Metal Max (known as Mecha Warriors on Chinese pirate cartridges) is a post-apocalyptic turn-based RPG developed by Crea-Tech and published by Data East for Famicom in 1991, designed by Hiroshi Miyaoka. Set after the global disaster called "The Great Destruction", human civilization collapses, mutated monsters and outlaws roam the wasteland. The young protagonist leaves his hometown to become a bounty hunter, searching for tanks and recruiting companions to hunt wanted bounties. Its signature feature is the dual combat system: players fight either on foot or inside customizable tanks. Tanks can be modified with chassis, engines, main guns, secondary cannons and special SE weapons, requiring repairs and armor maintenance. The game offers high open-world freedom without rigid linear storyline. The tragic character Red Wolf is a classic icon. Players can retire and finish the game anytime. It is a revolutionary non-traditional RPG on FC and widely popular via Chinese pirated cartridges.
