Kick Master

Kick Master is a side-scrolling action platform game developed by KID and published by Taito for NES in 1992, only released in North America. The evil sorcerer Belzed invades the kingdom of Lowrel, kills the royal couple and kidnaps Princess Silphee. Players take the role of martial artist Thonolan to avenge his brother and rescue the princess across 8 stages including forest, cavern, ship and swamp. All attacks are kick-based. Gaining EXP from defeated enemies levels up Thonolan and unlocks more kicking techniques such as slide kick, flying kick and roundhouse kick. It also features MP magic system with fireball, heal and shield spells. Enemy drops can restore HP/MP or poison the player. Released late in the NES lifecycle, it uses parallax scrolling and blends light RPG leveling mechanics. It is a challenging and underrated classic on 8-bit console.
