Fireboy & Watergirl 3: In the Ice Temple

Fireboy & Watergirl 3: In the Ice Temple is a 2-player cooperative puzzle platform browser game developed by Oslo Albert, released in May 2012. It is the third title in the Fireboy and Watergirl series. Originally made in Flash and later converted to HTML5. Players can control both characters solo or play together with a partner, guiding Fireboy and Watergirl through a frozen ice temple. Fireboy survives lava but dies in water. Watergirl can safely pass through water but dies upon touching lava. Green toxic slime kills both characters. The signature new gameplay mechanic is ice and snow terrain. Fireboy slides rapidly on icy ground, while Watergirl has better traction on ice. On snowy slopes, Watergirl can climb easily, but Fireboy struggles to climb. Hot and cold light beams are introduced: blue light freezes water into solid ice platforms, red light melts ice. Players use mirrors to redirect light beams to alter terrain. Collect red and blue gems, solve puzzles with levers, boxes and pressure plates, and lead Fireboy and Watergirl to their respective exits to clear each stage. It contains 36 levels. Simple cartoon graphics with keyboard controls, the game tests teamwork and prediction of sliding inertia. It is a classic cooperative browser puzzle game.

These games get the keyboard directly — the controls are whatever the game itself defines, usually in its own help or options screen. Some games show on-screen buttons on phones.
