Chinese Paladin 2004
About this game
Chinese Paladin 2004 J2ME (also known as Chinese Paladin Mobile) is a Chinese fantasy turn-based RPG developed by Softstar Entertainment, released for J2ME Java feature phones in 2004. It is a compact mobile port of the original PC *Chinese Paladin*, compatible with Nokia, Motorola and other color-screen mobile phones of that era. It condenses the main storyline of the PC classic: Li Xiaoyao meets Zhao Ling'er and embarks on an adventure against the Moon Worship Cult. Many side quests and long dungeons were cut to fit the limited screen size and memory of old mobile hardware. It uses 2D pixel graphics and keypad controls. The classic turn-based combat system is preserved, including five-element spells, inventory items and the famous Sword Imperial skill. Players collect herbs and potions, learn magic by leveling up. It keeps iconic locations such as Yuhang Town, Fairy Spirit Island and the Pagoda of Captured Demons. The game file is tiny. It is one of the earliest official Chinese mobile RPG titles, distributed via China Mobile’s game service back then. Today it can be played on J2ME emulators with the JAR file, a beloved nostalgic Java Xianxia game from the feature phone era.
