Arkanoid
About this game
Arkanoid is a legendary block-breaking arcade game developed and published by Taito in 1986, and later ported to Famicom/NES, PC and many other platforms. In the story, the mothership Arkanoid is destroyed by aliens. Players pilot the surviving small spacecraft Vaus trapped in another dimension, aiming to defeat the final boss DOH. The core gameplay: move Vaus left and right to bounce the ball and smash all blocks on screen to clear the stage. You lose a life if the ball falls below the paddle. Destroying blocks drops power-up capsules, including paddle expand, multi-ball mode, laser cannon, ball catch, slow ball and extra lives. There are normal blocks, multi-hit blocks and indestructible metal blocks. Enemy flying ships appear in later levels to interfere. It supports single-player and 2-player alternating mode, establishing the core formula for all later brick breaker games.
