Submachine 4: The Lab

Submachine 4: The Lab is a Flash point-and-click puzzle browser game created by Polish indie developer Mateusz Skutnik, released on April 20, 2007. It is the fourth chapter of the Submachine series. Following the story of Submachine 3: The Loop, the player wakes up on the roof of the lab building, the core facility built to research the Submachine teleport network. For the first time in the franchise, players travel across multiple distinct zones instead of one single location, including laboratories and ancient ruins. The inventory system returns. Players explore scenes via mouse clicks, collect items such as hammer, rubber tubes and coils, operate portal terminals, computer consoles and energy coil devices, input spatial coordinates to teleport between areas. Read leftover documents and uncover secrets about Murtaugh and the Submachine network. There are hidden blue orb collectibles. Puzzles cover electric circuits, coordinate codes and ancient machinery. It retains the hand-sketched art style and lonely mysterious sci-fi atmosphere. This entry greatly expands the Submachine lore and was later remastered as part of Submachine: Legacy collection.
