The King of Fighters EX: Neo Blood is a fighting game developed by Artoon, licensed by Playmore, released for Game Boy Advance in 2002. It marks the first The King of Fighters title on GBA handheld. Set in the Orochi saga timeline, Geese Howard secretly hosts the KOF tournament to seize Orochi’s power, and the game introduces exclusive new fighter Moe Habana. It adopts the classic 3-on-3 team battle and Striker assist system from KOF 99. A unique Judge Level system ranks players by battle performance to gain levels. At max rank, Master Mode unlocks, allowing players to freely use super moves and MAX desperation attacks. Game modes include story, versus, team battle, survival and multiplayer link battle. It features iconic KOF roster such as Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard, Ryo Sakazaki and Athena Asamiya. The game uses real proportion character sprites on GBA hardware, with optional 3-button or 4-button control layouts. It is a notable retro fighting game on handheld platform.
