Cube Escape: Arles

Cube Escape: Arles is a point-and-click escape puzzle game developed by Dutch studio Rusty Lake. It is the third title of the Cube Escape series, released in 2015, first launched as a free web game and later ported to mobile platforms. Set in Arles, France in 1888, players take on the role of Vincent van Gogh, trapped inside the room recreated from his famous painting Bedroom in Arles. The game pays homage to Van Gogh’s masterpieces such as Sunflowers and The Starry Night. Players explore the bedroom, collect items including paintbrushes, pigments, absinthe and painting fragments, combine objects to solve jigsaw, symbol and balance puzzles, and uncover the painter’s fractured memories. The story references famous events in Van Gogh’s life including cutting his ear. Gather white and black memory cubes to open the final gate leading into The Starry Night. The game features oil-painting inspired visuals and a unique suspense atmosphere. It is a standalone side story in the Rusty Lake universe with little connection to the Vanderboom main storyline. Controlled fully by mouse clicks, it has a short playtime and strong artistic vibe.
