About this game

ShenYingWuZong-LiaoTianDing is a pixel side-scrolling Flash action game created by Lin Bingshu and released in 2004, inspired by the legendary Taiwanese folk hero Liao Tianding. Set during Japanese colonial rule, players take on the role of chivalrous thief Liao Tianding, robbing the rich to help the poor while fighting Japanese soldiers and local tyrants. Use arrow keys to move, Z to jump, X for sword attacks and C to deploy grappling rope. The rope can hook platforms and swing across gaps, which is the signature gameplay mechanic of this game. It features retro pixel art, fast-paced combat and tricky stage traps with relatively high difficulty. The original Flash version only contains two playable stages and includes a cheat menu. As an early indie Flash title with local historical theme, it is a well-known nostalgic browser action game among Chinese retro game communities.
