Nekketsu Fighting Legend

Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu, also known as Nekketsu Fighting Legend or Riki Kunio, is a tournament fighting game developed by Technōs Japan and released exclusively for Famicom on December 23,1992. Kunio receives an invitation to join the Saber Tiger fighting tournament hosted by the twin bosses Toraichi and Toraji. Players can create custom characters: name, birthday and blood type decide fighting style, stats and special moves. You can also pick classic Kunio-kun characters like Kunio and Riki as teammates, defeat 15 rival teams and finally fight the twin tiger bosses. It features story tournament mode and free battle mode. The core gameplay is 2v2 arena combat. There is a teammate compatibility system; high compatibility unlocks powerful team combination attacks such as tornado assault. Battle arenas contain hazards including electric wires, slippery ice and spring boards which can hurt combatants. The combat system includes punches, kicks, grabs, rolls and unique special skills. Food items drop from defeated foes to restore HP. Up to four players can play simultaneously with a multitap adapter. Password save is available, winning matches grants EXP to level up characters, and there are good and bad endings. It uses classic cute pixel art and is one of the most iconic multiplayer fighting games on Famicom.
