Fatal Fury Special
About this game
Fatal Fury Special (Japanese: Garou Densetsu Special) is SNK’s classic 2D fighting arcade title released September 16, 1993 for Neo‑Geo MVS hardware. It is an enhanced dream‑match upgrade built upon Fatal Fury 2, dropping story continuity for an all‑star character roster. It features the signature two‑plane battle system that lets players shift between foreground and background layers for evasion and cross‑line attacks. Characters from the first Fatal Fury return including Geese Howard, Tung Fu Rue and Duck King; all bosses from Fatal Fury 2 are playable. Beating the game without losing rounds triggers a secret bonus fight against Ryo Sakazaki from Art of Fighting, who becomes unlockable, bringing total playable roster up to 16 fighters. Combo mechanics, recovery frames and desperation‑move system were refined for smoother, faster combat. Stages carry over from Fatal Fury 2 with day‑night variations plus brand‑new arenas for new cast members. Widely ported to home consoles, it can be emulated via MAME and remains one of SNK’s most celebrated retro fighting games。

Controls
These are the default keys. Every arcade board has a different number of buttons and means different things by them. The rows above are buttons 1–6 on the board: on Neo Geo boards (The King of Fighters and friends) A/B/C/D are buttons 1–4, Metal Slug uses only 1, 2 and 4 (shoot / jump / grenade), and Pac-Man uses none at all. Six-button fighters with three punches and three kicks (Street Fighter II and the like) get a different layout from the core: light punch U, medium punch I, heavy punch Q, light kick J, medium kick K, heavy kick E. Click the gamepad icon 🎮 in the player toolbar, then “Remap keys” to open the emulator’s own control settings (keyboard and gamepad, saved automatically). Gamepads are detected automatically. On phones you get on-screen buttons.
