Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn (C&C) is a landmark real-time strategy game developed by Westwood Studios and published by Virgin Interactive, released September 26, 1995 for MS-DOS. It is the original debut entry of the Command & Conquer franchise and built upon the foundation laid by Dune II. The story revolves around Tiberium, an alien crystalline substance that crashed on Earth. Two factions fight for global dominance: the Global Defense Initiative (GDI), and the cult-like Brotherhood of Nod led by iconic villain Kane. Players choose either faction for separate full campaign storylines. Core RTS mechanics include deploying mobile construction yards, harvesting Tiberium resources, building bases and producing combat units. The game pioneered full-motion live-action FMV cutscenes, with Joseph Kucan portraying Kane. Its legendary soundtrack was composed by Frank Klepacki. The expansion pack *The Covert Operations* launched in 1996, adding 15 missions plus secret dinosaur bonus campaign. The original DOS release uses VGA 256-color graphics, supports mouse and keyboard controls and IPX LAN multiplayer. It is playable on modern PCs with DOSBox emulator and widely regarded as one of the most influential RTS titles in gaming history.
