About this game

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, also known as Dinosaur New Century, is a side‑scrolling beat‑'em‑up arcade title released by Capcom in 1993 on the CPS‑1 hardware. Adapted from the American comic book Xenozoic Tales, it ranks among the four great CPS‑1 arcade classics and was hugely popular in 1990s arcades. Set in a post‑apocalyptic 26th‑century world, humanity returns to the surface after climate collapse, only to find dinosaurs roaming the earth. The plot follows four protagonists opposing mad scientist Fessenden, who plans to conquer the world with genetically modified dinosaur creatures. The game features eight stages and supports up to three‑player co‑op. Four playable characters Jack, Hannah, Mustapha and Max differ greatly in speed, strength and move‑sets. It boasts an innovative item system: firearms have limited ammo and turn into throw‑able weapons once empty. Barrels and boulders can be picked up and hurled, and players can even seize boss weapons for counterattacks. A rich combat toolkit includes punches, kicks and running tackles, delivering satisfying arcade‑style combat. Each stage hosts unique bosses alongside dinosaurs, mutants and human foes across jungles, mines, deserts and ruined cities. It never received an official home‑console port; the original arcade build is widely preserved and playable via MAME emulators, remaining a cherished arcade memory for generations of retro‑game fans.

Controls

These are the default keys. Every arcade board has a different number of buttons and means different things by them. The rows above are buttons 1–6 on the board: on Neo Geo boards (The King of Fighters and friends) A/B/C/D are buttons 1–4, Metal Slug uses only 1, 2 and 4 (shoot / jump / grenade), and Pac-Man uses none at all. Six-button fighters with three punches and three kicks (Street Fighter II and the like) get a different layout from the core: light punch U, medium punch I, heavy punch Q, light kick J, medium kick K, heavy kick E. Click the gamepad icon 🎮 in the player toolbar, then “Remap keys” to open the emulator’s own control settings (keyboard and gamepad, saved automatically). Gamepads are detected automatically. On phones you get on-screen buttons.
