Tenchi wo Kurau II: Shokatsu Kōmei-den
Über dieses Spiel
Tenchi wo Kurau II: Shokatsu Kōmei-den (Destiny of an Emperor II) is a turn-based role-playing game developed and published by Capcom for the Famicom, released on April 5, 1991. It is the second Famicom RPG in the Tenchi wo Kurau franchise, adapted from Hiroshi Motomiya’s manga Tenchi wo Kurau, with its storyline heavily inspired by Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Widely regarded as the greatest Three Kingdoms RPG on the Famicom for Chinese retro gamers. The story begins with Liu Bei raising troops against Yuan Shu, then follows iconic episodes including visiting Zhuge Liang three times, the Battle of Red Cliffs, conquering Sichuan and northern expeditions, with the ultimate goal of restoring the Han Dynasty. It uses turn-based army combat. A general’s combat power is calculated by troop count, physical strength and intelligence. A brand-new formation system grants offensive and defensive bonuses; the Eight Trigrams Formation is the most powerful tactic. Over fifty tactical spells are available, including fire attacks, water strikes, confusion and assassination. Spell effectiveness depends on weather, terrain and the intelligence gap between generals. You can recruit up to seven generals in your party, with five fighting on the front line. Towns feature training halls to level up troops with gold, and inns restore troop numbers and strategy points. Random battles trigger while traveling the overworld. Secret passages, hidden treasures and side quests are scattered across the map, and password save keeps your progress. Generals have weapon restrictions and unique stats, including Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Zhuge Liang, Ma Chao and Jiang Wei. It features traditional Chinese-style pixel graphics and epic background music. Widely distributed on Subor multicarts in China, most players experienced it via fan Chinese translations. Famous cheats such as Zheng Xuan’s letter and item duplication became legendary among old-school gamers. It shaped how countless Chinese players learned the tales of Three Kingdoms.
