Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha

Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha (released as Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold for home consoles outside Asia), is an arcade fighting game developed and published by Capcom in August 1996, running on the CPS2 arcade hardware. It is an enhanced revision of Street Fighter Zero 2 (Street Fighter Alpha 2), released primarily in Japan, Asia and South America. It retains the full roster of 18 playable fighters from the original Street Fighter Zero 2, including Sakura Kasugano, Rolento, Gen, Zangief and Dhalsim. Akuma remains normally selectable, while Shin Akuma serves as a hidden boss. Several fighters receive brand-new special moves, and EX variant characters are added with gameplay properties inspired by Street Fighter II. It keeps the 3-level super combo gauge, air blocking, Alpha Counter and Custom Combo systems. Capcom adjusted move hitboxes, damage values and character balance, alongside tweaks to the resource cost of Custom Combos. New game modes include Dramatic Battle (2 vs 1 cooperative AI battle), Survival Mode and a dedicated Shin Akuma challenge mode. The classic six-button control layout stays unchanged, and the visual assets are identical to the base Zero 2. This arcade version was never officially released in North America or Europe; its content was ported to home consoles under the title Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, included in the Sega Saturn Street Fighter Collection compilation. As a refined upgrade of Street Fighter Alpha 2, it adds entertaining multiplayer modes and remains a popular title for CPS2 retro fighting game collectors.
