Nuts & Milk

Nuts & Milk, also known by Japanese title ナッツ & ミルク，was developed and published by Hudson Soft for Famicom / NES in 1984. It is Hudson Soft’s very first Famicom title, ported from earlier MSX home‑computer versions, standing as an early classic platformer of the 8‑bit era. Players take control of Milk, whose goal is to gather every fruit scattered across each stage, evade rival Nuts and environmental hazards, then reach his lover Yogurt beside the house to clear the level. The base game offers 50 built‑in stages, two difficulty modes Game A and Game B, plus 1‑2‑player support. Its most forward‑looking feature is a fully‑fledged in‑game level editor, letting players design original custom stages, a rare feature for home consoles in the mid‑1980s. Game mechanics include ladder climbing, trampoline high‑jumps and rope traversal. Players must avoid enemies and water pits; long falls will stun Milk temporarily. Never officially released for North American NES, the title was only published in Japan, and later ported to GBA, Wii and mobile devices. With charming cartoon visuals and upbeat chiptune soundtrack, Nuts & Milk remains a beloved retro NES gem, fully playable via modern emulators including its custom level‑building function.
