Xuan‑Yuan Sword: Dance of the Maple Leaves

Xuan-Yuan Sword: Dance of the Maple Leaves is a historical fantasy turn-based RPG developed by DOMO Studio and published by Softstar Entertainment in January 6, 1995 for MS-DOS. It is the first spin-off entry of the Xuan-Yuan Sword franchise, built on the game engine of Xuan-Yuan Sword II, and serves as the prequel to Xuan-Yuan Sword 4. Set in the early Warring States period of ancient China, players control Fu Ziche, a disciple of Mohism, to stop the ambitious sorcerer Shusangzi, who plans to conquer the world with the Demon Refining Vessel and mechanical golems. The story features famous historical figures including Guiguzi and Gongshu Ban, blending ancient Chinese philosophy, Mohist mechanical arts and oriental fantasy. The classic turn-based combat system includes the iconic Demon Refining Vessel, guardian summon and treasure growth mechanics, plus unique monster dialogue events with variable battle outcomes. Originally released in Traditional Chinese for DOS, playable on modern PCs via DOSBox emulator. Widely regarded as one of the most influential classic Chinese DOS RPGs.
