Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact - Giant Attack

Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact - Giant Attack is an arcade fighting game developed and released by Capcom in September 1997. It is an enhanced revision of Street Fighter III: The New Generation, running on the CP System III arcade board. The subtitle "Giant Attack" references two new fighters: the massive wrestler Hugo and Urien. Yang, previously a near-clone of Yun in the original release, became a fully independent character with unique moves. Akuma was added as a secret playable character, and the powerful Shin Akuma appears as a hidden boss in single-player mode, expanding the roster to 14 fighters. The game retains Street Fighter III’s iconic Parry system and Super Arts selection. It introduces EX special moves, tech throws and character-specific Personal Actions. Bonus stages, absent since Street Fighter II, also make a return. Capcom reworked move frames, damage values and character balance, and increased overall game speed. The hand-drawn CPS3 sprite animation remains top-tier, and this is the only CPS3 game that supports widescreen display. As the middle chapter of the Street Fighter III trilogy, 2nd Impact built upon The New Generation and laid groundwork for the famous 3rd Strike. It was later bundled with the original Street Fighter III for the Dreamcast compilation Street Fighter III: Double Impact, and also included in Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. It remains an important retro title for hardcore 2D fighting game fans.
