Smart Ball

Smart Ball, released in Japan as Jerry Boy, is a side-scrolling puzzle platformer developed by Game Freak for Super Famicom/SNES in 1991. Players take control of Jerry, a blue jelly blob cursed from human form. He travels through 8 stages to rescue Wendy. Jerry can stretch his body to cling to walls and ceilings, squeeze through narrow gaps, and flatten himself to stomp foes. Key items include red balls, iron balls and seeds. Red balls can be shot as projectiles and turn into bombs when Jerry is at full health. Heavier iron balls deal more damage and can be reused, yet they reduce jump power. Seeds grow climbable vines when planted. Every stage is split into two segments with a boss fight at the end. Collecting scattered J-E-R-Y letters grants extra lives. The Japanese version features town story scenes, which were completely removed in the US Smart Ball release. It is Game Freak’s second title after Mendel Palace, known for bright visuals and catchy soundtrack.

These are the default keys. Click the gamepad icon 🎮 in the player toolbar, then “Remap keys” to open the emulator’s own control settings (keyboard and gamepad, saved automatically). Gamepads are detected automatically. On phones you get on-screen buttons.
