Pokémon Red

Pokémon Red is the original Generation‑1 monster‑catching RPG released for Game Boy in 1996 by Game Freak, fully playable on GBA consoles. Play as Red, a young trainer from Pallet Town. Receive your starter Pokémon (Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle) from Professor Oak and travel across the Kanto region. Your goals are to capture all 151 original Pokémon, defeat eight gym leaders, take down criminal organization Team Rocket and its boss Giovanni, and conquer the Pokémon League to become champion. It established the core franchise mechanics of catching, battling and link‑cable trading. Several Pokémon are version‑exclusive between Red, Green and Blue, requiring trades to complete the Pokédex. The foundational starting point of the Pokémon franchise, widely enjoyed on GBA hardware and emulators。

These are the default keys. Click the gamepad icon 🎮 in the player toolbar, then “Remap keys” to open the emulator’s own control settings (keyboard and gamepad, saved automatically). Gamepads are detected automatically. On phones you get on-screen buttons.
