Pokémon Green

Pokémon Green is the original classic Pokémon role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo in 1996 for the Game Boy platform. Released exclusively in Japan alongside Pokémon Red, it is the founding work of the entire Pokémon franchise. It established the core gameplay of Pokémon catching, training, battling and trading, laying the foundation for all subsequent Pokémon games and becoming an iconic vintage handheld game classic. Set in the classic Kanto region, the game starts the player’s journey from Pallet Town. Guided by Professor Oak, players choose one of the three original starter Pokémon and embark on a thrilling adventure across Kanto. The core gameplay includes challenging eight gym leaders, collecting gym badges, defeating the Elite Four and the Pokémon Champion, and completing the Kanto Pokédex by capturing wild Pokémon and battling rival trainers. Players need to connect and trade with the Red version via GB link cable to complete the full Pokédex, creating the classic Pokémon multiplayer trading mechanism for the first time.
